Secret Tip Number 1 In Digital Photography

By Amy Renfrey

Its very exciting starting digital photography. You might even invest in your first digital camera; its really a world unknown until you learn some digital photography tips and perhaps even go on a few day outings and take several digital photos.

But really, what does it take to get your digital photography from frustrating "why-won't-it-turn-out" to "wow-it-looks-like-a-professional-digital-photo" standard?

That's easy; there are three secrets to digital photography that you must know or you might be frustrated for a long time. So here is the first secret:

Digital photography Secret 1; Light

It sounds pretty simple doesn't it, almost too simple to be a 'secret'. But I tell you its not. If you understand that in digital photography your light is one of the top three elements to success then you will be on your way to creating digital photos to be proud of.

Always aim for even light over your digital photo image. If you have the whole scene and the whole subject well light so there are no hard shadows making it difficult to focus on then you are on your way to success.

You may have heard that cloudy days are a key element to a digital photography- my response to this is "most definitely but do you know why?" The whole issue of light in digital photography is getting even light over the scene as I just mentioned. You see sun light during the day can either work as your best friend or a complete enemy. It can create huge patches and lines of hard light that create and cast shadow over your scene or subject making it impossible to create a good digital photo.

You can have sensational digital photography images if you just know how to work with the strong sunlight. Have your light/sunlight cast over the front of the your subject so your digital image has evenly spread light on it, so no hard shadows or lines are created. This is precisely why digital photography can be enjoyable on cloudy days; because the light is evenly cast for us, making our jobs as digital photographers easier.

So make sure that when you are outside doing digital photography that the light is evenly spread over your subject and dont be afraid of cloudy days. And don't worry about the sun; its all in the positioning of the light and avoiding hard light that is a fundamental key element to successful digital photography.

Cheers,

Amy

The Modern Photo Printer

By Michelle Bery

Modern photography has advanced into a technological age that few would have considered years ago. Now, professional photographers and casual hobbyists alike have moved into the digital age where photos that are taken can be instantly downloaded onto a computer for storage and printing. Just twenty years ago, few would have believed that wed be able to snap and send a picture to a loved one far away in a matter of moments. And, keeping pace this changing technology, is the host of equipment designed exclusively for this new form of picture taking, including the photo printer.

When we download digital pictures from our camera onto our computers, we then have the option to print the pictures from our printer. But suddenly, the average printer wasnt good enough, as they turned pictures that boasted contrasting light and bold colors on the computer into washed-out grainy reproductions upon printing. The photo printer, rather, is designed to give you a true, superior reproduction of your photo and does so in very little time. Most designs of the photo printer include the use of an ink-jet system that has the ability to represent color meticulously.

There are even newer models of a photo printer that offer the ability to plug your digital camera straight into the printer, thus eliminating the need for download onto your computer. These advancements continue to come as manufacturers assess and meet the needs of todays busy consumers.

Surprisingly, the photo printer is quite reasonable in price. But, keep in mind that the materials needed to operate a photo printer can be on the pricey side. Specialty photo paper and color toner cartridges can add up over time. However, if you balance the price against the cost over time of sending out digital photos for printing, youll find that the price of the material pays for itself.

When determining what photo printer is best for you consider the frequency of which you will use it, any space considerations you may have, desired features, and price. Any computer supply store will offer a variety of photo printer models from which to choose.

The photo printer has brought the dark room into the light, allowing us to hold the full representation of our photography in just a matter of moments

5 Handy Calendar Printing Tips for Beginners

By Carla San Gaspar

Your calendar printing reflects the quality and professionalism you impose on your business, and as such, you have to take every effort to make it impressive.

Here is a checklist on calendar do's and don'ts.

1) Start with a basic template

The easiest way to start is with a basic template to guide you in your calendar print. The template makes it easy for you to just input the images and text on each page instead of starting with each one all over for every month. In addition, it gives your calendar uniformity you need to create a professionally looking calendar.

This template can simply be the frames for your calendar printing. You can get this from MS Word 97, or create it from scratch using tables. Include image boxes for your graphics.

Create a new document with the size specified for your calendar. Remember to include margins and the allowances required by your printing company. A standard bleed of 1/8 inch or .125 that extends beyond the cutting or actual size of the document is mandatory.

2) Choose high quality images

When you're doing your own photography, make sure you have the right equipment. Have a high definition digital SLR camera that will give you high definition prints. When shooting outdoor, avoid shooting at noon as this can give you harsh shadows and strong lights. When shooting indoors, you need a basic lighting system. Many great photographers start out as amateurs, but unless you're confident about your skill find an alternative solution.

Hire a photographer to take your pictures for you or a friend who happens to be a hobbyist. When you can't afford either one, you can simply pay and download stock photos over the internet for a price. This way, you can save on the professional fees for both the models and the photography. Either have great photos or none at all.

3) Develop a Consistent Style

Create a consistent style for the entire calendar. It will give it a clean and structured feel to your calendar. Avoid mismatched elements that will make your calendar printing chaotic. Aside from creating a uniform page layout with your templates, make sure you also create consistency with your style.

For a more formal look, choose classic font styles. Avoid using too many font styles as it may make your calendar look disorderly.

Choose a single media for your graphics. When you start with a photograph, be sure to follow the rest of the months with photographs. The last thing your need for your calendar is to make it look like a hodge-podge of sorts.

4) Start with something simple.

In the design process, you can always follow the clean and simple attitude of minimalism. Start observing the form, structure and flow of your calendars. Add little details along the way as you see fit. This way, you avoid overloading it with too much information and maybe even clutter.

5) Print on high quality materials

Have your calendar printed with an offset printer. You have a choice of printing your calendar in 100 lb gloss text with a 100 lb gloss cover or 100 lb matte cover. With offset printing, you can acquire professional prints without blowing a hole in your pocket. Simply, it provides you with both quality and quantity for your calendar printing.

Sports Photography For Fun, Action And The Memories

By Bernardo Fernandez

Sports Photography for Fun, Action and the Memories.

Becoming an avid sports Photographer can be as fun and addictive as the games we play. When I refer to Sports photography, I am referring to the pastime and skill of photography that covers all types of sports, whether amateur or professional.

In the world of sports photography it's all about getting the right shot at the right moment. As a sports photographer you're presented with numerous obstacles at times not including the technical photographic equipment we now have in abundance. Sports photography is with out a doubt a place where you can burn quote a few frames just to get your timing down and learn the techniques on perfecting how to photograph a moving target through a lens.

Thank goodness we now have digital cameras. Using a digital camera can allow you to figure all of this out without braking the bank. Everyone likes a good action shot and, if your children participate in school sports, you'll want to remember and capture them as they were in school sports. Some of those games will be talked about for years to come. With sports photography you can literally bring those memories into clear focus with simply be looking at a picture.

A big part of sports photography has a lot to do with learning where to position yourself for the best sport pictures. When shooting try to shoot it like you would if you were on the field in the game playing yourself. Don't just get caught up in snapping shots but also be sure to enjoy the game as you watch all the action unfold but also anticipate the action unfolding and be ready to capture those sport shots. A good tip to bear in mind to remember to get as close to the action and what you are trying to shoot as possible. Shooting a player leaving the frame is poor composition. When you are shooting sports, bear in mind that action shot on the far side of the field are closer to the background than shots on the near side of the field.

When you're shooting an action shot you'll need to be aware of the players locations. If you're turning the camera so that the long side of the film is perpendicular to the ground, you are now shooting vertical or in portrait format. If you are going to shoot a baseball player running left to right, leave more room on the right side than the left to show that he is going somewhere.

Almost everyone wants digital images, and this equipment can be costly. Depending on the quality level you are trying to reach this may mean doing some research to locate a digital camera that will take better shots in different lighting then your regular home camera does.To get a good idea of some great examples of sports and action shots, then look at some sports magazines full of sports shots.

As I close, Remember that sports photography gets you up close with the sports you enjoy. It also allows to capture the sport shots and the memories of the athletes, or the activities that make memories for your family. So what are you waiting for, get out there and discover the fun involved in sports photography. It's a wonderful pastime.

Photography Educational Institutions

By Ted Burns

Many schools and colleges offer photography classes to students as an elective subject. However, there is no requirement to gain admission to an educational institution for a degree if you have studied photography for several years on your own or even taken some helpful classes on a non-formal basis.

Certainly you can learn the skills of a photographer even if you have not taken photography classes in school. But excellence in this field does require dedication, and more formal class training can be a great help.

Some institutions offer 'long distance education.' You can enroll in such institutions and - unlike typical college majors - do not need to reside on campus or sit in a classroom environment to learn photography. An example of such institution is New York Institute of Photography.

If you become part of a school like this, you will learn everything from camera lenses to a variety of photographic techniques. You can even study photography during journalism classes. While developing your skills, you also receive magazines and articles related to digital imaging, contests, and a number of other photography-related knowledge and events.

The photography program at the New York Institute is built around 30 lectures on wide array of topics. Initially you are given a brief introduction to the material to allow you to choose your specialized field of interest. A significant advantage of non-campus training is that you can perform your regular job and learn photography simultaneously. And there is no time limit for learning photography; whenever you are free, you can learn and practice.

During the training, you will not only sit under the tutelage of a professor, but will also be provided sample pictures allowing you to study great photography to compare and apply your knowledge on a practical level.

A common belief among those interested in this field is that to become a photographer, you must have your own dark room to develop photos. You will be happy to know that this isn't the case anymore. Some of the most well known photographers in this business don't do their own development anymore, paying others instead to do so for them. This affords more time to focus on learning to take great shots.

Another great benefit of photography training is that there is no age limit. Knowledge is a path open to anyone of any age who possesses sufficient interest and motivation. And the rewards you gain from learning photography are incalculable. You have the opportunity to earn good pay through professional photography or simply engage in this activity as a hobby or "labor of love."

Photography educational institutions not only provide students an environment in which to learn, but also assign specific camera work activities to help their students assess just how much they have gained from the training. And it is all quite fun once you get started!

Still-life Photography

By TJ Tierney

Is still-life photography one of the least exciting areas of photography? This is up to each individual and each individuals own personal interest, but still-life photography demands a great deal of care and imagination. The rewards for a good still-life photographer can be enormous.

A large percentage of the advertisement market uses still life photography images. A large portion of still-life images fall under the fine art photography class and could make a great extra source of income for an established photographer.

There are many ways to approach still-life photography - the best and most used by professional photographers is to spend days in a studio, arranging and rearranging the set up until they get it perfect. This is what it takes to create perfect still-life portraits. With practice and a great deal of patience you will find your own unique way.

Most objects can form part of a still-life portrait. Objects from around the house or in the garden will make excellent still-life subjects.

Still-life photography is a simple discipline of photography for beginners. The equipment you need is very basic and you can start off photographing a bowl of fruit or a flower. Most professional still-life photographers use a medium or large format camera, but you can get great still-life pictures using your 35mm camera.

A small studio can be assembled in a corner of a garage or bedroom, or on a fine calm day can be constructed outdoors. Some of the best still-life arrangements are quite simple to set up. The main rule to follow is to keep it simple. Placing too many objects in front of the camera will cluster the setting.

If you are interested in still-life photography try the following.

Set up your studio beside a window. First pick a simple background - a plain drape or lace makes a perfect background. Using a vase or bowl as the main subject can make for an attractive still-life image. Take some shots using the natural light from the window.

Take more pictures using low light - this can be morning or evening - place a reflector at the other side of the vase to soften the image and get rid of any harsh shadows.

Now compare the two sets of images. The difference between both images will be immense but tests like this will lead to creating a better eye and mastering the true art of still-life photography. The effort seems extreme but still-life photography requires a great deal of patience and practice. Trial and error will play an important part in developing a new skill.

By Earl Taylor

If you have found that you are gifted at photography and have a desire to set up your own business, why not consider starting a home based photography business?

It is simple to do and you can bring in a steady income with only working part-time. To start your photography business, you should first ask yourself which type of photography you wish to specialize in.

You can take wedding photos, fashion photos or concentrate on portrait photography. Another option that you can decide on is if you rather shoot assignment photographs or create a collection of stock photos.

Assignment photos are commissioned by a client, whether it be a couple getting married or a newspaper. Stock photos are taken by the photographer and sold to the highest bidder. Once you decide on your type of photography business, you will want to get the business organized.

You may wish to write a business plan as well as registering your business with local officials and setting up a bank account exclusively for the business. If you are going to have clients coming to your home to take photographs, you may wish to take out several insurance plans.

The final steps in starting a photography business are buying all of the necessary equipment. You will need cameras, tripods, lights, lenses, backgrounds and any other equipment required for your specialty.

When you buy your equipment, you may wish to establish a relationship with suppliers in order to save money down the line when you need to order more equipment and supplies.

Need Help With Wedding Photography

By Arinze Ngonadi

Wedding photography is an art form that should tell a unique story of the day's events, your family, and your friends. Wedding photography involves artistic talent, human sense, and complete mastery of photographic techniques, business knowledge, and a strong desire to learn and deliver the best to the wedding couple.

Wedding

Wedding photographers used to get no respect, either from customers or other pros. They can be really complex so where do you start to ensure you book a qualified and experienced wedding photographer. Weddings is a serious business and a very special occasion for the couple.

Weddings

Weddings are very dynamic and the wedding photographer does not know any of the guests. They are perhaps the hardest type of portrait photography there is, because the photographer has to capture everything beautifully, in a short period of time, with an artistic eye, and no chance to do it over again should anything go wrong. Weddings can be hectic but the right photographer can help make your day run more smoothly. They are all fairly standard, but most people like to add a reminder of poignancy or humor.

Professional wedding photography takes an eye for great visuals and a keen sense of style in the post production process. Professional photographers generally use a very strict agreement to protect their interests, but that is not appropriate for a friend. They are part of a network of photographers, and do have many people they can call in emergency.

Wedding photography is one of the most demanding areas of professional photography. Their job is a specialty; one that requires all the right equipment, the right training, lots of experience, and a real love of photographing weddings. The photographer can present a classic wedding story, express bold, contemporary images, or create the drama of a documentary presentation. Wedding Photography is not just about taking pictures it is about capturing the moment, telling a story and connecting with all of the emotions of one of the most important days of your life.

Hello there is a lot of good stuff out there and bad stuff on the internet as there always is in everything in life. So I kind of made my mission to find the things that do work from friends family and myself For more info click here for more free info.

Choices in Printing

By Florie Lyn Masarate

The quality of digital prints is continuously improving with the improvement of technology. With these advancements, it is now much easier for people to get their printing job done. No more qualms on the kind of result that they are getting.

This is maybe the same reason why many businesses are entering the printing industry. Besides, this is the printing age. Everything that can be written can be printed also. Why not make the most of what technology has to offer and choose the kind of printing you want?

For the people who want to get the best possible image at all times, it is important to evaluate what kind of printing process to use that will eventually bring the best results.

Let us take a look at two kinds of printing processes:

Digital Printing. If you want a sample of what digital printing looks like, just take a look at the pieces that you print out from your inkjet printer, at home or in the office. Digital printing uses a series of dots printed on top of the paper that forms the image.

Digital printing is used most often by those who want to print large quantities in little time. But of course, the printed output should adhere to the quality requirements of the people printing them.

Offset Printing. Offset printing is done on large presses that use plates and inks. As the piece is printed on an offset press, the ink blends with the paper and bonds with it.

Because of the plates used and the way the ink is absorbed by the paper, most people think that offset provides richer and fuller color saturation than digital printing.

These two kind of printing processes have their own advantages and disadvantages. Some people may think that offset is better than digital printing or vise versa.

Even though digital printings have improved a lot over the years, most printing experts still prefer offset printing. It seems that the quality inherent in digital printing still have not reached the quality level of offset printing.

It all boils down on the printing needs of the people. It all depends upon how they make use of the process to bring better results for them.

Try to compare the kind of prints made from digital and offset printing. Then decide which type suits you best.

At least you have options to choose from. Better than nothing at all.

What is Macro Photography?

By Kathy Burns-Millyard

Many hobby photographers and photography enthusiasts who are just starting to learn how to take great pictures often wonder how more professional photographers can get such great, extreme closeup photos of things like flower petals, bees, and other insects. It's really quite easy once you learn about the technique, but it does take some trial and error, and your results will vary a bit depending on the kind of camera you're using.

Extreme closeup photography is referred to as macro photography. Anytime you see a super close photo of a fly for instance, or a flower petal, the photographer probably used macro photography techniques to get that gorgeous close up photo.

Not too long ago, you had to have expensive special camera equipment to do macro photography, but with the plethora of digital camera technology enhancements in recent years, now almost anyone can do this type of photography.

With that said, you will need to have a camera that offers this feature. Since digital cameras are so popular these days, we'll focus on those for the purpose of this article.

A general point and shoot digital camera may have macro photography functionality built into it. High end digital SLR cameras which allow you to change lenses will also have the capability... sort of. You actually have to buy macro capable lenses for use on your digital SLR camera, because macro photography is actually a function of the lens and not the camera.

Because point and shoot cameras are meant to be less expensive and easier to operate though, the macro functionality is built into the camera in those cases. So if you want to do macro photography and you plan to start with an inexpensive point and shoot camera, you'll need to make sure it offers the feature before you buy it. Sometimes the product specifications will tell you the camera has macro mode, but you can often tell by simply looking at the camera too.

There is usually a selection dial on the top of small point and shoot cameras. This dial has little image icons that stand for various things. Look for one that looks like a small tulip flower. That is the selection setting for macro photography mode, so if the camera has that as an option, that means it's available on that model.

What Are the Different Types of Photography?

By Bob Wright

Digital Photography is more than just a fabric of the average family's memories, it has become an art form taking on many different types. Some types of photography are artistic photography, photojournalism, documentary photography, portrait photography, event photography, family photography, nature photography, advertising photography, underwater photography, satellite photography and more. Each of these types has many different directions in which they can go.

Photography is a popular hobby, pastime, or career for many people. One of the most recent revelations in photography is the digital camera and digital photo. In an age of computers and computer technology, digital photos have become increasingly popular. People no longer have to deal with film and developing as digital photos can be downloaded onto a computer and viewed instantly.

Digital photos can be shared on the web and through email. They can also be saved on CD's. Many digital cameras come with LCD screens so the photos can be viewed from the camera itself. You see what the picture looks like instantly instead of waiting for developing. Digital cameras are advancing every day and new technology is released on each one. Lower quality ones can be picked up at a local retail store from about $45 now. These often do not contain flash and the quality is not as great. Other digital cameras can range anywhere from $100 to $5,000. The most high-tech camera for normal individual use is about $200-$500. This may seem like a lot but when compared to the somewhat dated price of film and developing, you can save a lot by going this route. You can also send as many copies of your photos as you wish through email and the web so copies are unlimited. You can even print copies of your digital photographs from your computer.

There are also many software packages that allow you to enhance your photos, the things you can do is endless and only limited by your own creativity.

Photography has come a long way since early days but popularity has not waned. It will likely be with us for thousands of years to come.

What is Digital Infrared Photography?

By Raymond Nwambuonwo

For those not familiar with what digital infrared photography entails, it involves a particular type of photo imaging that is sensitive to infrared light. Now, some may wonder what is so special about photographic imagery that has sensitivity to infrared light but this is because they are not aware of the multitude of benefits that such imagery provides.

For example, when used with a unique filter digital infrared photography can deliver incredible in camera effects that can produce very brilliant and artistic photographs. As such, this type of photography has a host of benefits associated with it that some may find appealing. As such, some of these special benefits need to be explored along with a little advice about being proficient with these cameras.

The Difference Between Digital and Traditional Infrared Photography

With digital infrared photography, there is a significant difference between the traditional cameras of years past. That difference is that because digital cameras do not employ a chemical process of film the cameras have much more leeway in terms of its electronic components. For example, many of these cameras contain a special infrared blocking filter that would not be present in the traditional cameras of old.

So, in a way, infrared photography becomes on demand with digital cameras as opposed to being the more complex process of cameras of a previous generation. But, this does not mean that being proficient with these types of cameras are anywhere near easy. In fact, they can be quite sophisticated. This should be of no problem, however, to those who have a desire to be proficient as we will soon learn.

Learning the Tricks of the Trade

Keep in mind, while it is not impossible to learn the effective techniques of digital infrared photography it is a somewhat complicated subject. Please note: there is nothing wrong with something that is complicated; it simply means that one needs to take a few extra steps to learn. If you really wish to become proficient with this type of photography then you need to invest the time in becoming good with it.

This will often involve quite a bit of trial and error and in order to reduce the errors it is wise to look into additional resource material. Luckily, there are a number of excellent digital infrared photography books out there that provide excellent valuable information on the subject matter that can greatly help anyone who is looking to become skilled at this type of photography.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Prints

By Elizabeth Morgan

For millions of people across the world photography is a part of their daily lives, a means to record memories and capture important occasions. Everyone loves looking at photographs and we have all at some time, eagerly anticipated prints that will help us relive a holiday or birthday or graduation.

Making photographic prints is easy these days just a matter of sending film to the print shop to be developed and printed but there was a time when photographs were only taken for historic occasions. The earliest photographic images, called daguerreotypes, were made on copper plates and could not be easily replicated, so a family photograph was jealously guarded. In time, photographic images were made on paper and underwent a series of avatars before the prints we are familiar with made their appearance more than a century later. The discovery of the negative to print system revolutionized photography, allowing multiple prints of a photograph to be made.

The transition from black and white prints to color took place in the 1940s, with developing and printing techniques consistently improving over time. The latest development of course, is the introduction of digital photography and digital prints that can be extensively manipulated on the computer.

Available in different sizes and finishes, prints will last for decades if handled right. Bundling a lot of prints in an envelope or shoebox is not the best way to store them, but if you must, make sure theyre not lying about in a humid spot. Experts recommend that prints should not be displayed in self-adhesive or magnetic photo albums. Place your prints in acid-free albums, using acid-free photo corners to secure them. Avoid the use of glue or tape that might leave ugly marks on the prints.

If you enjoy having photographs prominently displayed in your home, make sure they are not in direct sunlight to prevent them from fading. It is advisable to use an acid-free mat when framing a picture so that the glass does not come in direct contact with the print.

Photographic printing techniques are so evolved these days, prints are being considered works of art and youre more likely to see fine art prints up on walls than original paintings.

The Beauty of Black and White Photography

By Morgan Hamilton

One of the many features found on modern digital cameras is the ability to allow the owner to try black and white photography. Through the years, this type of photography has gradually become less popular. Nowadays, people prefer color pictures because they are colorful and more affordable.

The latest camera models have settings for black and white photography and some photo editing software enables photographers to change color photographs into black and white. Any of these methods can be used to achieve the classic black and white look that can impress any viewer.

Black and white photography has been somewhat forgotten, but a few people have found that it is great for portraits and close-up photos. The black and white look often contains an element of mystery that color photographs cannot capture.

Black and white photos are also perfect for portraits and candid shots of young children. Black and white photography can add an intimate feel to a photo that color photos cannot achieve.

Many wild life photographers have discovered that black and white photography is also effective for nature photos. A black and white picture of a single flower can be breathtaking.

If you want to create a unique picture, you can add color to a part of a black and white photo using your photo editing software. For instance, you can add color to the irises of someones eyes on a black and white portrait or add color to the petals of a black and white picture of a flower.

If you want of make your black and white photos to be more striking, you can frame them in groups in your wall. Find moments when your children are at play, take five or six pictures of them a few seconds apart.

Then take these photos and convert them into black and white. Then purchase a set of matching frames and hung them in your wall in a cluster. Believe me; you will be delighted with the results.

Digital cameras have made it easier to make black and white photography a hobby. With the help of a digital camera, this type of photography becomes economical. If you are apprehensive about black and white photography, you can try to experiment.

Find a few colored pictures and turn them into black and white using a photo editing software. Take time to study the photos and see how the products make you feel.

How Can I Sell My Photos?

By Michael Kryzer

If you want to sell your digital photos online then you might be in for a pleasant surprise. The marketplace for people who want to sell their photos is growing as more people are buying stock photography. If you have a digital camera and you can take good photographs you can get started right away.

Have been wondering, "How can I sell my photos online?" It is not difficult to start a business selling your photos as stock photography.

What is Stock Photography?

Stock photography refers to existing photographs that can be licensed for specific uses. The customers who buy stock photography include publishers of magazines and journals, web sites, advertising agencies, graphic artists and others. Clients can save time and money by buying existing stock photography instead of hiring a photographer.

How Can I Sell My Photos to Clients?

Stock photography images can be made available in searchable online databases. The advantage of these databases is that clients can quickly locate photographs that meet their requirements, make a purchase, and download their chosen images immediately. These databases are a great way for freelance photographers to market and sell photos.

What is Micro Stock Photography?

Microstock photography is an offshoot of traditional stock photography. It is different in that a microstock photography company usually sources images almost exclusively through the Internet, working with a larger number of photographers than a traditional stock photography agency, and selling images at comparatively low rates.

As a freelance photographer you can sign up at these online stock photography libraries and start selling your photos. You will earn a fee every time a customer downloads one of your photographs.

Who Owns the Copyright on My Photos?

Copyright is an intellectual property right and a form of protection provided to authors and creative artists. You don't have to do anything special to copyright your photos. Copyright automatically applies at the instant your artwork is created. As the person who took a particular photograph you own the copyright to that picture from the moment you took the shot. There are formal ways of registering your copyright should you prefer to do so.

So what are you waiting for? Grab your camera and start taking some great snapshots. Once you have a few good photographs, start to sell your photos at these online sites.

How To Decide Whether To Print Your Digital Photographs Yourself Or Have Them Done Professionally

By Gregg Hall

Printing your images onto paper is the next step in digital photography. The best photo shot will not be the best if you do not use the right tools. To make the pictures you took come to life you will need to have a really good printer to go along with the camera you own.

The many different types of cameras forced printer companies to make many different types of digital camera printers. Creators know that printing photos is way better then printing prints of a photo and not having color or something else. This is why they are trying to create a better printer to go with the digital camera.

Today there are many ways to have digital images printed. Every printer and its camera know what it has to meet up with. Your printer will need to be digital friendly so you can print these flawless pictures into blow ups. Some digital photography printing choices include taking your film or digital photos to a photo specialty store. The older style of bringing your film to the store and having it developed is still in use today. The only thing thats different about digital developing is that you just bring your camera to the store and they print your photos for you, you can get your own printer and do it yourself.

The only thing that makes a photo store better than just using your digital camera is if you dont already have a digital printer. Even better they probably will know how to work a printer better than you so you might want to go there anyways to get advice from them. The bad thing about photo stores is the wait. Even if the process is shorter than that of film being developed you are still going to have to wait no matter what type of camera you have.

Home printing your photos is becoming a more and more widely used option every day. More and more people are buying these printers so they can print their own pictures when they want and how they want without the wait. So doing it by this way you can do it your own little way and have your own collection of photos without having to wait for your images to be printed. The only thing you need to do is make sure you have the right type of printer that matches your camera.

With at home printing you will not have to wait in any lines to get your pictures printed because you will be printing them yourself on your own time. All you have to do is plug it into your computer and start printing. The only bad thing about home printing is that you will have only one form of development and that is printing unless you are posting them to a website.

Digital Photography Technique

By Darren Rivers

With the popularity of digital cameras, amateur and professional photographers have had to adapt by developing a new technique. This article explores some ideas for developing your digital photography technique.

One of the best advantages of digital photography is the fact that it is now free to take a picture. You can take a picture and immediately see the results on your LCD screen. There is no film cost or development cost. With this comes the development of the digital photography technique of taking several pictures. With this technique, you can shoot a picture several times to make sure you captured exactly what you wanted.

While you're shooting multiple pictures, vary the settings on your camera for different effects. With this digital photography technique, you can create really artistic pictures (sometimes by accident), by varying the ISO, aperture, and shutter speed of your camera. Many cameras also have built in pre-configured settings (B&W mode, Sepia mode, landscape mode, etc.). With digital photography, you can use this technique to use these settings (even in shots that they aren't intended for) to get unique results.

Check out the many resources available on digital photography tips. There is so much information available.

One of the most common complaints with digital photography is the longer focus time required compared to traditional film cameras. Sometimes this delayed focus causes you to miss a shot. With the pre-focus technique, the focus time problem becomes obsolete. In this digital photography technique you point your camera at what you want to take a picture of, depress the button half-way down and wait for the focus lock. Then, when you are ready to take your picture, just depress the button all the way down and the camera will capture the picture immediately. This technique is invaluable when you want to snap a picture of your child with just the right expression. I've used this technique for years with my children.

While your camera's LCD screen is great for framing your picture before you shoot, it has its limitations. Sometimes the LCD screen can be difficult to see in bright sunlight. Thankfully, many digital photography cameras still come equipped with an optical viewfinder. In this technique, use the optical viewfinder in situations when the LCD is unusable. If you don't have an optical viewfinder and you can't use your LCD, refer to the first digital photography technique: shoot multiple shots. One of them is bound to be good!

Study Digital Photography - How To Study Digital Photography?

By S. Vaidya

If you are looking for ways to improve your digital photography skills it is a good idea to study various aspects of photography and the equipment used in photography. In the end what really matters is your finished product (photos) and not how much you know about the subject.

If you are not able to put your knowledge in practice with excellent results or close to professional output mere studying won't help. This is why the best way to study digital photography is "constant experimentation". Such kind of trial and error can give you lots of new ideas and "mistakes" you should avoid in getting that perfect picture.

The biggest advantage of experimentation in digital photography is that it costs nothing (apart from the equipment). You can take as many pictures as you want apply special effects using computer software or even mix two pictures to produce a completely new style of taking pictures.

This kind of study requires an open attitude and a willingness to learn. Since you are reading this article it is quite sure that you already have that in you.

Another way to study digital photography is to "analyze" what the work of professional photographers. You can find many award winning photographs in digital photography magazines. Many magazines also give the technical details of such photographs such as which camera was used to take that picture, what was the location, the shutter speed, etc. This can give you a good starting point for studying various aspects of basics of digital photography and the cameras as well.

Thus studying digital photography can be fun if you allow yourself to look around and start taking pictures as a habit in itself.

By Tim Gorman

You have probably noticed -- digital photography is becoming more and more popular. It seems that everyone has a digital camera. Digital cameras are even built into some cell phones. Digital cameras, like all the other digital items we see around us, is into the main stream of our society. Like digital movies, digital music and a host of other things, digital photography is here to stay. There are many reasons for the popularity of digital photography.

First, digital pictures are extremely versatile; they can be uploaded to websites for others to view, they can be sent in emails, they can be put into virtual scrapbooks or tangible scrapbooks by printing them out on high resolution printers that are very affordable.

Digital Camera Basics

By Kyle Moyer

Learning digital photography basics can help you take way better pictures fast, but putting together a list of digital photography basics can be a daunting task if you're approaching the subject for the first time. Digital cameras are very easy to use, and after getting acquainted with digital photography basics, they are a real breeze to use. Unfortunately, they can sometimes be a bit too easy to use causing some of the finer points to get glossed over so that the pictures suffer for it.

Digital cameras are confusing to a lot of new users. Digital images are made up of small squares, just like a tile mosaic on your kitchen or bathroom wall. Digital photography is becoming popular worldwide both among professional photographers as well amateur ones, partly because the cameras are less expensive to operate, since you do not have to buy film or pay for developing. When shopping for a digital camera it's at least good to know what the basic terms like white balance, pixel, ppi and dpi mean and how they affect image and print quality.

At the very top of the digital photography basics list is, of course, a digital camera. One of the main ways that manufacturers categorize their digital cameras is in terms of pixel count. Currently most popular consumer digital cameras have between 2MPand 5MP. Most digital cameras have settings for sunlight, shade, electronic flash, fluorescent lighting and tungsten lighting. You may end up becoming frustrated with always using the auto mode on your camera, since it doesn't always provide the best picture.

If you're looking for clear, easy to understand information about how to get the most from your digital camera, to learn the digital photography basics first, to take those heart-rendering photos and to avoid common mistakes, there are plenty of resources available. This article is basically the tip of the iceberg

Digital Photography Vs. Traditional Photgraphy

By Connitta Bowers

Digital photography may be one of the late 20th century's most innovative technologies. It is about half the cost of traditional photography, with the results being of equal or better quality. You waste nothing; there's no film required, and since you only print the pictures you need, digital photography is both cost effective and environmentally friendly. Perhaps the most compelling aspect of digital photography is the idea of showing pictures to people wherever they are, as long as they have a computer and an internet connection.

Photography

Photography is a popular hobby, pastime, or even a career for many people. Photography has come a long way since its early days and its popularity has not waned. In fact, digital photography is becoming even more popular and it is slowly replacing film photography, especially in professional environments. Even for experienced photographers, the move to digital capture brings with it a significant learning curve.

The Digital Camera

A digital camera is, in effect, a little computer. Picture quality varies from camera to camera. The quality of digital cameras has increased over the years, yet many people feel it isn't quite as good as a regular camera yet. When you're shopping for a digital camera keep in mind that it doesn't matter how much your camera costs, or how big it is. You're looking for the camera you're happy with, and that is what's most important. One of the things I like about digital cameras is that, unlike film, you can reuse the storage media over and over again with no extra cost. If you've ever used a film camera, you will remember how annoying it was that you could only store a few pictures on the film, without the ability to delete them once they were made.

The Digital Age

In a sense, digital photography adds a whole new step to photography. It is no longer just photography, it is digitally post-processed photography. The digital age has brought about the greatest transformation in photography since photography was invented.

Conclusion

Digital and traditional photography are complimentary arts. They each have their respective places in the lives of amateur and professional photographers. The skills acquired in traditional photography will definitely be passed on to the digital world. We can easily see that the world of photography has room for both digital photography and traditional photography. Let's just hope that digital and traditional photographers can make the best of both worlds and continue to produce great work. After all, digital photography is just another tool of modernization in an ever-changing world.

Full Color Postcards

By Kristy Annely

Full color postcards can be produced with the help of traditional methods of offset printing as well as technologically advanced digital printing. Traditional offset printing is done using film and plates. To bring out the true effect of full color postcards, it is advisable to make use of striking images, good photography, and eye-catching content.

Advantages that full color printing has over other types of printing are that full color printing offers precise, detailed reproductions at a low cost-per-sheet. Inkjet printers or color photocopiers fail to live up to the standards set by full color printing. Full color postcards are also one of the most cost-effective advertising and marketing tools. If the right printer is chosen, high-quality standards can be achieved within a limited budget. For small jobs, inkjet printers can be a viable option. Full color printing is a better option for clients who may want to print a large number of postcards for business purposes.

Any individual can create a postcard with the help of Quark, Publisher, Photoshop, or CorelDraw software on their computer, depending on their marketing objectives. For those who do not have the will or time to design their own postcards, they can get help from postcard designers or designer firms.

Generally, printing firms may ask customers to select a product type, quantity, and job format. Such firms may provide an approximate estimate of cost, depending on the requirement. Some postcard designers may present a few design options, and clients may select from those options. After the client approves of the design, a final proof may be sent and then it will go for printing after approval.

Full color postcards are available in various: of 4x6 postcards, 5x7 postcards, 4x9 postcards, 5.5 x 8.5 postcards, 6x9 postcards, 8.5 x 11 (letter size) postcards, and 6x11.75 (omni size) postcards. Postcards may also be custom made to order in sizes other than mentioned above.

How to Master Digital Photography

By Tara Dipalma

Introduction to digital photography

Make no mistake, digital photography is here, its big, and its the way things will be from now on. People use digital photography in their work every day:- police officers, real estate agents, insurance agents, fire fighters, scientists and doctors, just to name a few.

Digital photography has come a long way in a few years. Digital photography, as opposed to film photography, uses electronic devices to record and capture the image as binary data. Digital photography has also been adopted by many amateur snapshot photographers, who take advantage of the convenience of the form when sending images by email, placing them on the World Wide Web, or displaying them in digital picture frames.

Digital photography was used in astronomy long before its use by the general public and had almost completely displaced photographic plates by the early 1980s. Digital photography enables you to experiment with the camera settings, different styles of images can be tried out, learn t from and techniques improved all without the expense of film processing.

Some other devices, such as mobile phones, now include digital photography features. With the acceptable image quality and the other advantages of digital photography (particularly the time pressures of vital importance to daily newspapers) the majority of professional news photographers have begun capturing their images with digital cameras.

Other commercial photographers, and many amateurs, have enthusiastically embraced digital photography because they believe that its flexibility and lower long-term costs outweigh its initial price disadvantages. Almost all of the cost of digital photography is capital cost, meaning that the cost is for the equipment needed to store and copy the images, and once purchased requires virtually no further expense outlay.

The biggest advantage of digital photography over traditional film include: Instant review of pictures, with no wait for the film to be developed: if there's a problem with a picture, the photographer can immediately correct the problem and take another picture.

Get Great Photography For Your Catalogs

By Kaitlyn Miller

More than your catalog printing content and listing of your products and services, what attracts your target readers to your catalog printing project are the photos and illustrations you decide to include in your print marketing materials.

A picture paints a thousand words. That is why in your catalog printing project, you have to make sure that your photos and pictures paint a pretty picture when it comes to promoting your business.

When hiring a graphic designer and photographer to work for the elements in your catalog printing project, hire someone who knows everything there is to know about photography because it can make or break your target readers reaction to your print catalogs. Or if you decide to do it yourself, here are a few suggestions to help you get the most of your catalog printing photography experience:

Product/Service is king.
You always have to remember that without your products and services, your catalog printing project is nothing. You only have your catalog printing pieces because of one reason: to promote your products and services.

No matter what the style, design or layout of your pictures and photos, the bottom line is to highlight your products and services.

The most popular catalog printing photos are often featured in bold and brilliant colors, with clear and concise format, no background, but with a soft drop shadow. This makes it easy for your target readers to know whats in store for them.

By using no added element to enhance your products and services in your catalog printing photography, it produces better pictures by:

 making the feature products seem like theyre ready to jump off the page;
 creating much larger photos;
providing the easy transition between the product edges and the page, which is done by the drop shadow effect; and
creating much flexible product photos and pictures.

Group Shots: Avoid Like The Plague
Although your catalog printing project includes many of your products and services (in fact, all of them), it doesnt mean that you have to get them in groups to maximize your space. You put them all together in groups to help you give equal exposure to each one of your products.

However, studies have shown that instead of giving each of your products the proper exposure, group shots only make it less favorable to the eyes of your target readers. More than anything else, your group shots of your products help in decreasing your products sales opportunity in your catalog printing project. Better to just do them individually.

Always get full ownership rights.
Most photographers charge you per photo done. In addition, they retain the ownership of the photo rights. In order to avoid this, you might want to look for a catalog printing photographer who charges by the hour and lets you negotiate with them regarding the unlimited use of your catalog printing photos or even outright ownership.

And as always, the bottom line is to get a catalog printing photographer that is willing to work with you to achieve what you have in mind for your catalog printing project.

Every person you let in to help you come up with an award winning catalog printing (for your target readers, that is) should act and do their tasks like family caring for the project and wanting the same things that the owner dreams for his or her business. Only when you find these persons that youll be guaranteed to achieve your dreams for your business.

Advertising Photography And Models

By Jack Whites

Advertising Photography is a challenging job, particularly with different kinds of models and campaign briefs from the clients. Let us look at the various kinds of models and how tough or easy it is to shoot them.

Advertising Photography with human models

Human being can be the most versatile model. The best part about us is that we can emote in various ways. But getting the right expression needs skills both from the model as well as the photographer. Advertising photography with humans can be broadly categorised into two types of models adults and kids.

Advertising Photography with adult models

Adults can portray a number of human emotions. But it needs good advertising photography to capture them then when they put forth the right expression. This is more critical in case of print ads since some expressions and photography can really make a drastic difference.

Advertising Photography with kids

Kids can be excellent models. Not just the expressions that they can bring forth, also because they create an indelible mark on the readers' mind. They, with their cute looks and wonderful expressions, can make hearts melt and ads stay in your memory for a long time. So advertising photography here has a big and critical role to put such power to fruitful use.

Advertising Photography with animals

Animals too, with their cute looks, can evoke emotions and that helps an advertisement reach top of mind and dominate the space for a long time. But with animals, it is quite a trick to catch them in the right mood. And this is where Advertising photography plays a significant role.

Advertising Photography with non living things

Advertising photography with non living models such as cars, pens, furniture etc. is not as challenging as that with living things, yet it requires a lot of talent and experience. The proper usage of lights and positioning the camera all this comes with good knowledge in advertising photography.

Commercial Printing Machines

By Elizabeth Morgan

Commercial printing is printing undertaken on a large scale. For large scale printing you need commercial printing machines. Commercial printing is one of the largest branches of the printing industry. Commercial printing machines find its application mainly in the publication of books, magazines, newspapers and outdoor advertising. Commercial printing machines are very useful in situations where bulk printing is to be finished in a specified time. Most commercial printing machines give better quality print than the residential printing machines. Commercial printing is also important when the user wants the copies to be folded, stapled, embossed or stamped. Commercial printing usually costs more than ordinary printing, but they produce better copies than the others.

Commercial printing machines require certain additional facilities for functions such as lithography, photo printing and full color printing. Commercial lithographic printing is the process of printing artwork on a smooth surface. The lithography process usually requires an entire print block to come in contact with the sheet of paper. This paper gets the desired image with the help of a chemical process. Since the print used in the lithographic process is flat, it is also known as the planographic print process. There are many industries having lithographic printing of letterheads, labels and other high demand stationary items. Commercial lithographic printing process is the ideal method for printing text and illustrations. It can be used in general commercial printing, quick printing and printing of business forms and legal documents.

Commercial photo printing machines are used to produce bright and high quality photos. Printing machines that are manufactured for home use are not suitable for producing quality pictures. Even residential printing machines with color printing facilities do not match with the finish and elegance of a commercial printing machine. The cost of commercial photo printing machine ranges from $1,500 to $2,500. The size of commercial printing machine is bigger than the home printers.
